The capital of Paros is Parikia, a perfect example of Cycladic architecture, with whitewashed cubic houses, flowered balconies and narrow cobblestoned streets. The Venetian Castle, dominates the hill at the centre of Parikia, offering a stunning panoramic view of the city and the Aegean Sea. Also in Parikia, the 6th century church of Panagia Ekatontapyliani, which means the church with 100 gates, is an important ecclesiastical monument, as it is the oldest church in Greece, which has been in constant use.
