Overview

Carrig House, situated at the crossroads leading to the rural village of Carrig-on-Bannow and to the sea, enjoys breath-taking views of the Atlantic Ocean as it washes the shoreline at Cullenstown and the eye of any visitor is drawn towards the Saltee and Keeragh Islands as they guard the entrance to Ballyteigue Bay. The Bay abounds with tales of smugglers, ship-wrecks and heroic deeds. Bannow has played an important part in the history of Ireland – it was the spot where the Norman Invaders first stepped onto Irish soil in May 1169. The ruins of their castles are dotted around the parish and the old church in Bannow overlooks the area where the Buried City of Bannow once stood. Secluded beaches and scenic walks abound and the village has two public houses, one of which holds regular music nights. The old Danish town of Wexford can be reached within 25 minutes and Kilmore Quay is only 10 miles distant whilst The Hook peninsula is only 20 minutes away. You will find hospitality, tranquillity and refreshment of body and mind in Carrig-on-Bannow. Overlooking Bannow Bay, Carrig House offers old world charm in an idyllic, countryside location. All rooms are en suite, free Wi-Fi is accessible throughout and free onsite parking is available to guests. Carrig House is a true rustic retreat, allowing guests to unwind in homely surroundings, complete with antiques, artwork and a roaring fireplace. All rooms are located on the ground floor, and from the dining room there are views of the countryside all the way to the sea at Bannow Bay. In the mornings, guests can choose between a full Irish breakfast, French toast with bacon, or smoked salmon and eggs. Breakfast is served together with locally produced fruits and home baking. The beaches of Cullenstown and Blackhall are 2km from Carrig House and the town of Wexford is a 30-minute drive away. The property is a convenient 2km from the R733 at Wellingtonbridge and 40 minutes by car from Rosslare Ferry Port and Ballyhack Car Ferry.
