Klosterhotel St. Petersinsel

A former monastery dating from the 12th century, this unique historic hotel is located on car-free St. Peter’s Island in the middle of Lake Biel. It is surrounded by a large park and features a restaurant serving regional specialities and its own wine. The rooms at Klosterhotel St. Petersinsel feature elegant wooden furniture and floors, a seating area, and a modern bathroom with bathrobes, toiletries, and a hairdryer. Fresh fish from the lake and products from surrounding farms are offered in the restaurant, which includes a bistro serving drinks and snacks. A 4-course dinner is served in the restaurant and consists of wine and beef from the island and fish from the surrounding Lake Biel. In 2010, the Klosterhotel was recognized as Switzerland’s historic hotel of the year. Guests can take advantage of the property´s private boat on request. The hotel is just 50 metres from the lakeshore and the ferry port. Erlach, the nearest village on the lakeshore, is 15 km from Murten and Neuchâtel, and 24 km from Biel. Please note that the hotel is located on a traffic-free island. It can be reached by ferry from Biel and other places around the lake, as well as by the hotel’s private boat (available on request). Guests arriving by car can park next to the ferry port in Erlach, the nearest village (at a cost). If guests wish to use the owner´s private boat, they are kindly requested to inform the property at least 24 hours in advance.
