I built Marchburn Country Lodge as a Luxury Oasis in the middle of the mountains to offer guests unparalleled comfort from which to enjoy this spectacular mountain and sheep station scenery. There are picture windows throughout the lodge capturing the scenic splendour which surrounds Marchburn by 360 degrees. No matter where you look, a framed view awaits you from within the lodge. The uninterrupted views are the result of Marchburn"s location on the valley floor of the Ida Valley, part of the outstanding Maniototo region of Central Otago in New Zealand. The rocky outcrops on the nearer mountain ranges are complemented by the massive and dominating Mt St Bathans (2088 metres above sea level), Mt Ida (1690 metres above sea level) and the famous Hawkdun Ranges with its 40 kilometre flattenned summit and its "pleated and folded" ridges rising from the valley floor. Whether driving amongst, tramping and hiking up and amongst, or cycling by this dramatic scenery, when you return to Marchburn Country Lodge, or arrive for the first time, the ultimate luxurious comfort of the lodge provide a wonderful contrast to the hugeness and utter beauty of mountain and valley landscape.
