This hotel is ideally located along the unspoiled prime stretch of white-sand beachfront in Thandwe in Rakhine State, directly opposite the famous mermaid statue on the beach rocks. Guests will reach Thanwe airport in about 15 minutes. Constructed in 1961 by the Steel Brothers Company, this establishment was formerly known as the ""Strand Hotel Sandoway"". It was renovated in 2005, uniting the warmth and charm of the past with modern comforts, and lies amidst a tropical garden built with local materials and teakwood. The hotel consists of a main building with a single storey and four annexes with two storeys each, and offers a total of 66 rooms. Amongst the facilities count a foyer with 24-hour reception desk, a currency exchange facility, and a safe. Guests may also take advantage of the café, the Bamboo restaurant, and the breakfast room, while for an additional charge it is possible to use the public Internet connection, the room and laundry services, the medical assistance, and the bicycle hire service. There is a bicycle storage room, and parking spaces are on offer for those arriving by car. The clean and comfortable rooms are spacious and all come with their own terrace or balcony offering panoramic views over the Bay of Bengal. Standard fittings include an en suite bathroom with hairdryer, a direct dial telephone, satellite/ cable TV, a minibar, a small fridge, a kettle, and a double or king-size bed. The air conditioning is individually adjustable. In addition to bicycle hire, guests may rent a Crow Cart as well as boats. It is also possible to go fishing, and a nine-hole golf course is located nearby. For an additional charge, guests may enjoy a massage, and a snack bar round up the leisure offerings. Rakhine food and seafood are the speciality at the Bamboo Restaurant.
