Hunza Valley, a cradle of history and culture, has witnessed centuries of civilization’s ebb and flow. It’s here that you’ll explore the storied Baltit Fort, a testament to the enduring legacy of the Hunza’kuts and the valley enveloped by the mighty peaks of the Karakoram range above 7000 meters. The gateway to our adventure lies at the heart of the Karakoram, where the legendary Karakoram Highway begins its winding ascent. This engineering marvel stretches for over a thousand kilometers, connecting Pakistan to China through Khunjerab Pass 4700m. The gigantic Ultar, Hunza Dome, Spantik and Diran, famous peaks surrounding Karimabad, while Rakaposhi at 7788m dominates the whole panorama.

ITINERARY

Day 01: Islamabad – Naran

Depart early morning from Islamabad for a scenic drive to Naran, traveling via the Hazara motorway and from Mansehra drive on N-15 National highway, pass through Balakot. En route visit Kiwai Waterfall, then continue alongside the Kunhar River, enjoying views of lush pine forests and charming mountain villages. Arrive in Naran by evening and check in to your hotel. Overnight in Naran.

Day 02: Naran – Gilgit

After breakfast, begin your journey toward Gilgit via the dramatic Babusar Pass route. This day is filled with stunning scenery and key natural landmarks. En route highlights:

  • Batakundi
  • Lulusar Lake
  • Babusar Pass (4,173 m)
  • Nanga Parbat Viewpoint
  • Three Mountain Junction Point
  • Confluence of the Gilgit and Indus Rivers near Jaglot – a dramatic geographical intersection.

Arrive in Gilgit by evening. Overnight stay in Gilgit.

Day 03: Gilgit – Passu

After breakfast, drive north along the legendary Karakoram Highway. Stop at the Rakaposhi Viewpoint for stunning views. Continue toward Hunza Valley, making a photo stop at Attabad Lake, formed after a landslide in 2010. Enjoy the turquoise water. Proceed further to Passu, home to the iconic Passu Cones and the thrilling Hussaini Suspension Bridge. Overnight stay in Passu.

Day 04: Passu – Excursion to Khunjerab Pass – Drive to Hunza

After an early breakfast, take a full-day excursion to Khunjerab Pass (4,693 m), the Pakistan–China border and highest paved border crossing in the world. Enjoy the stunning alpine scenery and you may spot wildlife like Himalayan Ibex in Khunjerab National Park. After exploring the border area, return and head toward Hunza (Karimabad). Overnight stay in Hunza.

Day 05: Explore Hunza – Excursion to Hopper Valley

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive across the Hunza River to visit the beautiful Hopper Valley, a glacial valley offering breathtaking views of the Hopper Glacier, Ultar Peak, and Golden Peak. Return to Hunza and begin exploring Karimabad, including visits to the historic Baltit Fort and Altit Fort. Discover the region’s rich culture and architectural heritage. Conclude the day with a stroll through Karimabad Bazaar to browse local handicrafts and souvenirs. Overnight stay in Hunza.

Day 06: Hunza – Naltar Valley – Drive to Gilgit

Breakfast at hotel. Depart for Naltar Valley, known for its dense forests, dramatic peaks, and secluded charm. Spend time in the valley enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Drive back to Gilgit. Overnight stay in Gilgit.

Day 07: Gilgit – Naran

After breakfast, begin your return journey toward Naran via Babusar Pass. Enjoy the descending scenery and photo stops along the way. Arrive in Naran by late afternoon. Overnight stay in Naran.

Northern Retreat Ramada Gilgit

Day 08: Naran – Drive to Islamabad

After breakfast, depart for Islamabad, enjoying the final scenic stretch of Kaghan Valley. Arrive in the capital by evening and drop off at your designated location.
